Yeah this gets a 4 on first listen which already ties it with The Dangerous Summer for my album of '18. This may top that record if it grows on me at all, because TDS kind of faded aside from a few of the emotional hard-hitters.
I can't even begin to pick a favorite from this, every track is sort of like 3.5-4.0 enjoyable with great hooks. A beautiful listen start -> finish.
edit: yeah nvm the closer is god-tier

Gonna be hard to dig this after loving the direction of the last two albums. Gonna be tough to get into for sure. Will listen to eventually.

they really have a knack for writing an amazing closing track. this is up there with the Priest and the Matador. their last 2 albums had fantastic closers as well

Damn, I'm so happy I liked this album. I liked the singles, but hoped there were going to be a lot of deeper cuts that I would really enjoy and that's exactly what happened.

"Cringy lyrics my ass. Buddy leaves everything on the table. I'm sorry somebody singing about their *real life* experiences with pain, death, addiction and depression is "cringy" to you."
So many vocalists sing about these topics, and write beautiful lyrics to express their emotions. Buddy is simply not a good lyric writer (at least not since Let it Enfold You), which is why his lyrics sound cringy. Otherwise, I have nothing but respect for him for at least trying to convey these emotions in the first place.
