This is at least a 4.8

One song was nice, but I didn't seem to notice the sound of it, it kinda passed me by

I draw a lot, so if there is a song that makes me stop what I'm doing and look at what the title is, then I know it's a good song

Basically I went through this when talking with Grey about the best Icarus songs, and I realized that nothing here was weak at all and all had an argument for top 10/15/etc. Ever other album dragged at some point.

Had to cave in and give these fellas a 5 eventually.

Is there like slower songs on the older albums, or do some of the songs have the same sound?

":"every other album dragged at some point" wuuuuuut : /"

My friendo, I love this band but some of their songs are weaker than others. This is where I feel like, front-to-back, it's straight 100% bangers.

@Vinny they have plenty of ballads, and you really can't go wrong with any of their albums. This is just their peak imo

These guys have been criminally underrated for a long time, glad to bring someone else into the fold lol. Enjoy the ride.

I'd say Leviathan is their strongest after this, but that and S/T and Pilot Waves are all worth it. EP also brings the goods.

mars is on the money as usual

but yeah this is their most consistent album, but Leviathan has the highest high points. I love DoubleSleep to death but it still can't hold a candle to Leviathan's title cut

"Leviathan" t/t is in contention for the best song, so that's fair lol. One of the best choruses, and WOOF that is a difficult accolade to attain. These dudes knew their way around a hook.

Feel like they just weren't enough in one camp or the other. They're evaluated commonly through the lens of post-hardcore, especially Swwancore (hell, Swan signed them), but that was never really their thing. It's a pop band trapped in a post-hardcore body. Pop first and foremost.

They were too poppy to fit in, but could also be too heavy or technical at times to fit in as pop rock. They've got a technical flair, lean towards funky bass and guitar lines, then lather it all in bobyband-esque vocals and harmonies, then do breakdowns for good measure.

Small wonder they never fit a mold lol
