the chorus is decent, and I dig that riff they shamelessly lifted from Devin but Robb swaggering all over the verses kills it for me

I never minded the Love? riffs tbh

I'm not a huge SYL fan (as of yet) but Love? destroys Beyond The Pale.

You should be an avid SYL fan because they are fucking godly. And hilarious.

I'm sort of working my way backwards through Devin's stuff so it might be a while till I get to it.

That's fair, I'm just happy you're going through Devin's work because he is incredible.
Ocean Machine is in my top 3 albums of all time.

Addicted is my fav Devin album

Album Rating: 1.0
Addicted rules yeah but Ocean Machine, Terria, Casualties of Cool, (if we're counting SYL) City and Alien are a different level, yo. But after those albums, Addicted wins so that's still pretty high praise and 5/5 stuff.

Have listened to this a few times now. It's not good but its not that bad, although a pretty big step down from their latest run of albums.
Triple Beam, Beyond the Pale, California Bleeding are awful. Razorblade Smile and Grind you Down are also quite weak. Eulogy is one of the most drawn out, pointless songs I've heard in some time.
On the other hand, the title track and Heavy Lies the Crown are good. Volatile and Screaming at the Sun aren't bad either.
But yeah, while this does seem to be getting a lot of bandwagon hyperbole votes, I'm very surprised the decided to suddenly go this route...

Yeah I thought the majority of people were going to vote 2.5-3. I mean I knew that I was going to like it more than most other people obviously. I feel like most if not all the 1s are people who just based their ratings off of Bastards.

Nah I genuinely don't enjoy this entire album
|

why is the politically charged aspect of the album inherently a bad thing? I can understand if it is not well written, I haven't listened to this besides kaleidoscope. And that is enough for me to keep far away

new drinking game, drink every time Robb references getting blown.

Nah I genuinely don't enjoy this entire album [2]

Drink every time James Hetfield goes ''yeah''
Drink every time Mille Petrozza writes a ''save-the-world-from-the-capitalist-evils'' lyrical theme
Drink every time Tankard makes a beer-related song... oh boy with this one you'll get more drunk than Gerre himself

Getting hammered is already a prerequisite for getting through this album so the drinking games are just sort of there to force a blackout sooner.
