I'm not as consistently enamored with his more experimental work, but I think Tom Waits is the artist, even compared to my absolute favorites, who has the most songs that have spoken to me on a personal level, that have really captured the various emotions and feelings I've experienced throughout my life. Those slower, acoustic and piano driven songs throughout his career really just kill me, every time. I listened to Take It With Me for the first time today and it wrecked me, almost turned me into a puddle. Just a singular talent, truly.
