Clearly Opeth don’t count considering they’re more progressive, comparing them to a straight up DM band is nonsensical... you knew that though.

It was presumably a snarky response to me questioning the brutality of MA.

DotF mentioned that MA are the least brutal DM band, to which I responded by saying that Opeth are much less brutal (riding off of the fact that they are usually described as Melodic Death Metal).

Actually who is the least brutal "golden era" dm band? I would think it was Death, because they were always more melodic and proggy than the rest, no?

But then again, it's really fuckin weird to call them the least brutal haha

can someone make a list of soft Death Metal bands?

Unique just cited Opeth as a DM band & then a melo-death band, not only are they two different things (I wasn’t talking about Melo-DM, of course that’s less brutal), Opeth aren’t even a melo-DM band.
