Some people here need to re-listen to some power metal like Blind Guardian and Helloween. Heafy's vocals aren't even remotely close to that. They're more aligned with regular heavy metal.

Yeah and a lot of power metal vocalists are "technically" good but "in reality" sound like trash.
Implying that Matt Heafy is a power metal vocalist, eh?

I get that Trivium is a polarizing band, but it's crazy to see at what great lengths some people go to find them faults and discredit them. Not power metal vocals by a long shot. Not that it's even a negative thing but whatever.

Shogun is definitely their best album, atleast in my opinion that is.. and this is their second best.. there are maybe 2 songs that I'm not a big fan of (Endless Night is the weakest song on the album and The Heart From Your Hate is another one but he has some good moments here and there)
The black metal influences are really easy to see in some of the riffs and of course in that fantastic drum work from Alex.. solos are again great and fun this time and vocals are in my opinion pretty solid and go well with the type of metal they are playing right now..
After last two mediocre at best albums, this is a great comeback from them.. Ascendancy is a good album, but I like Trivium the more they stay away from metalcore and go more heavy/trash metal with some prog influences.. and come on, the vocals on their albums before Shogun aren't really good..
So glad that people are enjoing this album and critics aswell.. Shogun is one of the best modern metal albums to this day in my opinion and it's good that Trivium are back on track to make great music.. really, their previous 2 albums are totally forgettable

That riff before the solo in Beyond Oblivion is so god damn filthy, I love it.

And yes, many alts/new accts coming out of the woodwork suspiciously to raise the average. Harking back to a comment on the front page talking about that. Pretty evident it's true. i'm not saying it's bad to like this or anything but the overrating of it and the extremely childish/defensive soundoffs make this just seem like it'll be garbage.

You're right, I actually have 100 alts that rated this a 4 or above. There's no way people could actually like this. XXXTentacion shits all over it.

two songs in this just sounds like a less poorly organized and heavier Black Veil Brides. Heafy's even starting to sound more like andy black during the choruses ahaha.
|
| |
yeah thats why xxxtentacion has an abysmal average lol
no one is saying you can't like this, and people who care about averages are dumb, but it's blatantly obvious that the average is being raided by alts

Lethal, maybe you were right. Maybe I was wrong. But I've been silent for far too long. What will it take to rip the heart from your hate?
