these guys seem to be consistently inconsistent. since Constellations they alternate between releasing an album that gets the balance of aggressive melodic metalcore and techy experimentation just right (Constellations, R&R, this) and following it up with an album that just shoves surf rock/salsa/spaghetti western interludes where they don't belong (Leveler, FiFAP) like they're just trying to be different for different's sake. none of it is bad necessarily, but this album feels way more focused and cohesive than its predecessor.
