These guys should play more djenty. I feel like they would be colossal.

Why do people want to keep adding djent to stuff when it sounds like shit and the same thing over and over again?

I know everyone hates Leveler but I still think Salt & Light is the best song in their whole discography.

Gave R&R and FIFAP a relisten -- R&R is still the king thanks to its diversity. There's some great stuff on FIFAP as well but I can't pin down why it doesn't resonate with me as much.

This is a decent enough record, but it's literally the exact same sound that got dull two records ago. They still draw from the same bag of songwriting tropes as they always have, with the only occasional flair of trying anything novel. It's not unpleasant to listen to, but I've just heard it all so many times already.

Yeah I was spinning this for a few days and then just went back to the new Counterparts. Album has some cool moments but it's just sooooooooo samey.

Exactly. At this point theyre just making the same album over and over. Some bands actually make that work, but in ABR's case the schtick doesnt translate into varied takes on a consistent formula very well.

ABR made it work for a while, but yeah this feels like they're running out of gas.

Band has always been boring and mediocre to me. Maybe a bit above average but looking at their competition that isn't saying much.

Idk about that, Constellations and R&R are still top shelf metalcore, but the genre's line between amazing and mediocre is frighteningly thin tbh.

yeah, ABR has kept above that line for a long time because of how technically skilled they are (drums in particular) but that doesn't help too much when the melodies/structures are boring

Yeah, I'm gonna pass on this. Over all their albums I can count the songs I like by them on one hand probably (and a couple of those are from their debut). I think my issue is that the songs' structures are so samey and I just don't think Jake is a good vocalist. His screams are fine, but he's so fucking monotone. I really appreciate their musical proficiency, but it seems that more and more their being technical for the sake of being technical. I don't know, this band just frustrates me.
