Knife Play is peak. Fabulous Muscles / Forget are more accessible, I guess? Dunno, not my personal faves but it would seem that way
Great and pretty unique band

instrumentally, that's one of their most accessible. Forget, OH NO and the new one all have a certain immediacy to them too
I mean if you're triggered by provocative lyricism then these guys are gonna be a difficult nut to crack regardless, but yeah the levels vary somewhat, lol

Imo his singing disqualifies any of his songs from being accessible but crank heart I think is the closest they ever got. I haven’t listened much to forget or oh no

His singing is integral to the experience.
I love this band, I only listened to two of their albums once, but something about them speaks to me.

It probably warrants stating that I'm talking 'relatively' here, s'all relative after all
I certainly wouldn't be proclaiming Xiu Xiu to be something a lot of people are gonna find immediately easy going, but if I was cherry picking potential 'gateway' albums, then those are the ones I reckon
I'm also missing a few from the middle-section of their considerable discog, so there may be a hidden gem that would fit the bill, idk

Yeah I love his singing. Very avant- garde and he sometimes takes it a little too far but it matches the music. I have trouble introducing him to others though

Oh god, I wouldn’t bother trying to introduce this band to anyone I know. It takes the concept of outsider music and ramps it up to cosmic degrees

yeah, the vox are definitely idiosyncratic, neurotic even, but certainly unique, interesting and intimate. The production usually does well to highlight his vocal style too, it wouldn't be as affecting otherwise

i heard him talking about in his album commentary how he had a producer who did a great job of picking what vocal takes to use so the idea that there are sooo many gut wrenching vocal takes out their that he didnt use is hilarious to me
