This is randomly a pretty good groove metal album and I don’t really care what they do as people with regards to my enjoyment of the album. I still enjoy burzum and dissection and that one leviathan album and so on regardless of the creators’ crimes.

far as i know the case was dropped by the alleged victim due to harassment she'd received--namely the endless onslaught of the band's neckbeard metalhead fuckboi fans, not necessarily because her case was that bad.

You’re never going to know with the truth. Have to just decide whether or not you can seperate art from artist

'I was going to get justice for getting gang raped but then I got some mean comments so I was like nah'. The case was dropped cause there was no case, harassment was a last ditch excuse to save face. Also everyone and their mother assumed these guys were guilty monsters when the news broke, so the idea that legions of fans were still supporting them through these rape charges much less harassing the victim before the case even played itself out is as absurd as saying this would make her drop the charges.

I seem to be the only one but I prefer their groove metal albums over their death metal stuff. This shit bangs!

So they got rid of the aspect that made them so special, technical death, nope, not interested on the new Decap, first song it's arguably their most generic to date.

I found Mantra actually a little more enjoyable, there's more going on the drum, riffing and overall groove.

"I was going to get justice for getting gang raped but then I got some mean comments so I was like nah".
pretty ridiculous to dismiss harassment as "some mean comments". i dont think you or any of us understand how potentially intense and maybe scary it can be to have a bunch of people youve never met hate you, especially if youve just been through something as mentally scarring as rape.
"so the idea that legions of fans were still supporting them through these rape charges much less harassing the victim before the case even played itself out is as absurd as saying this would make her drop the charges."
there were both kinds of people, and everything in between. fan bases arent a monolith. i have no doubt that there were at least a few out of the hundreds of thousands of fans they have going after her. it seems like a statistical inevitability. it happens even in much smaller cases.
"far as i know the case was dropped by the alleged victim due to harassment she'd received--namely the endless onslaught of the band's neckbeard metalhead fuckboi fans, not necessarily because her case was that bad."
well of course theyre going to say this. as i recall there were some questionable pieces to their story, but i cant really remember the details. idk what to think.
everyone should watch Unbelievable on Netflix though. really eye-opening show about sexual assault.

Just learned that the bassist and drummer both left and now they have a new drummer (James Stewart) but no bassist as of yet. I wonder if the incident a few years ago impacted Vogg's decision to ditch everyone but the vocalist.
