Am I the only one who thinks this band needs to slow the fuck down with the album releases like damn
|
| |
nah let em make music it's obviously their passion
|

I would milk each album for a bit and spread them out over a longer period of time. Much better business model imo

Agreed, at this rate people are just gonna forget about each release. I feel like releasing 5 albums this year (which I bet won't actually happen) was just a publicity stunt to cash in on the extra attention Nonagon Infinity brought them, rather than a natural artistic progression. They're playing into the current instant gratification consumerist culture.

well, they've got 3 already, so you might eat your words on that

If they get 2 more out they'll have to be even more rushed than the newest one is, unless they release them simultaneously I guess.

fuck business models dude, thats not why you make music lmao
|
| |
you guys are looking too much into it. these guys just love dropping acid and jamming for hours together and they are competent enough to actually publish these albums so I say bravo to them.

I am 100% sure that if nobody had latched onto Nonagon they wouldn't be releasing 5 albums this year.
I mean more power to them if they want to release this stuff but sometimes less is more.

when you start making music only to please others you're lost
all im saying

I am 100% sure you haven't met these guys Boney and that you're just cynically misreading their intentions
quality over quantity for sure but i love everything they've released so far this year and there isn't a drop in quality from their previous material anyway. So I'm definitely not complaining, which is something people seem to do a lot of these days

I mean of course I can't know for sure but to me it's pretty obvious. People's tastes change rapidly. You catch the public eye - you fear losing it - you flood the market. I mean despite what Con said, releasing all this stuff makes each one seem more like a mere product rather than a true artistic expression. You check out their 5 albums, decide which one is best, and throw the others out. That's what I did.

music fans can never be satisfied. release 1 album every 5-6 years? wtf why do they wait so long I want MORE
1 album every 5-6 months? wtf nah I don't believe they put enough effort into these albums, it's just a cash grab
hence my point that you shouldn't make music to please others, you'll fail every time

At the end of the day it's a product, if you release it then to some except you are trying to please others. That's not necessarily a compromise though.

of course you are trying to please ur fans Im just saying it shouldnt be the main goal, just an added bonus.

Idk you've really lost me there, every album so far has felt like a true artistic expression in my humble opinion (I mean they take a lot of acid, read H.P. Lovecraft and Philip K. Dick and look how this album turned out). And I really doubt they are doing this simply as a cash grab while the iron is hot, there are many bands releasing a multitude of albums per year that disprove that point. And if you look at their discography you'll see that they can comfortably squeeze out two a year whilst working part time jobs. Of course there might be more financial freedom to maneuver with now but that's nothing other than a good thing.

I guess I'd be more forgiving if I thought the quality was higher, as it is though from the ones I've heard their either pretty decent or kind of shit.
Still though the fact that they said "yo we're gonna release 5 albums this year" makes it feel cheaper. If they haven't promised that in advance it'd feel more natural, instead it feels like they're filling a quota.
