Well I love that era of the Decemberists chuck so sounds awesome to me.

Spinning this now, enjoying it so far.

"it reminds me more of castaways and cutouts era the decemberists more than nmh which user ghandilion i see gave a 2.0 so dont hold your breath" I havn't listened to that band in a long time. Maybe i'll change my mind.

Decemberists are good but I see this as more scuzzed around the edges

Doof I don't think you've heard their debut (the one chuck was referencing) which is a lot rougher around the edges, more NMH-esque.

'I Quite Like it When He Sings' is my current favourite here

Third track is amazing

I'm not really hearing chuck's Decemberists comparison here so far but as he said it could be more prevalent on their other album.

I guess I should just delete my ratings. The decemberists debut does not deserve a negative rating.

I'm getting subtle Wilco - Summerteeth vibes from this, this is way more drawn out though

They do like to draw things out, you kinda have to surrender to that

I like the fact the backing vocals sound like a full Welsh choir or something like that at points. They sound very ye olde British when they want to. Tiny bit of 90's Thom Yorke in the lead singer's voice too

Given the comparison you made I guess I need to check Grandaddy too. And more Flaming Lips. I always enjoy this kind of tripped-out pop when I listen to it but I don't seek it out enough.
