Pinnacle of Bedlam is better than this in every way, including production. The guitars sound way better on that album, especially during the solos. The guitars on this album sound a bit dry. I still prefer the production on Blood Oath and albums before that, but Pinnacle of Bedlam is their best post-reunion album imo.
This is def their worst album (easily Frank's worst vox too) but still has some good songs.

self-titled and Blood Oath sound great. Pinnacle has alright production, but i really dont like how the drums sound.

I don't have any issues with the production on Pinnacle, I think it sounds good tbh. But yeah s/t and Blood Oath def sound better.
All 3 slay though. I think post-reunion Suffo gets too much flak really. This and Souls are their only weak albums imo. But at least Souls is still solid, even if it grew off me quite a bit. Better than this for sure though. I used to not really dig Blood Oath but it's a solid 4 for me now.

Album Rating: 3.0 | Sound Off
souls to deny has the worst sounding vox out of the reunion stuff, mainly do to mixing. blood oath is probably their heaviest album since despise, and pinnacle isss all around solid. i saw them a few months before this dropped and even without mullen/smith they still put on a great show. stillll, this is probably the weakest suffocation album

The mixing def makes the vox on Souls sound weird, but Frank still had good vox though. On this album he just sounds worn out.

on their reunion material Frank has sounded passable on everything but this.

Agreed. This is by far his worst performance. They should've used one of their live vocalists for this tbh. I can't remember who it was when I saw them but that dude was fucking sick.

Yeah what was that guys' name? He had a similar last name to Mullen's I thought. I saw him when they did some touring for this album. He was actually having a blast and a great frontman.
Hadn't listened since this came out, until this morning. Yiiiiikes. It's good. It's them. It's technical. It's fast. All the pieces are in place. But it's so complacent and repetitive. I know it's not saying a ton for a old school death metal band, but all the songs really do sound the same. Take away the fact that it's Mullen's last album and looking at it objectively, this ain't great. I do love the album art though.
I will say, though. Terrance Hobbs. I've seen a couple hundred live sets in the last 15 years, and in all that time, Terrance is the only band member I've ever seen get off stage and go right outside to where all the fans were, hop in a circle, and smoke cigarettes while talking to people and answering questions. Really laid-back nice guy. Even the nicest of the bands with any sort of prestige usually hop in their van/bus and rest until they come out and sign some shit. This guy just hung out with fans. Super cool.

I never jammed this or Bedlam. Is Bedlam worth a shot? I didn't mind the one before it but also didn't return to it much after it's release

Bedlam is good if you can tolerate the tinny, modern production; this is a step down in practically every way.
