This band is the epitome of average deathcore.

Worse than average. They epitomize everything wrong with the genre.

For sure. That's why the site has been slowly dying since around 2009.

It was you!
But no, I've just made the observation that albums have been receiving less and less ratings over time, and albums that came out between 2007-2009 seem to have a disproportionately high amount of ratings, due to that being the time when this site was the most popular.

Kind of weird though considering it was much more hostile then and so many new users got scared off.

Well I've been lurking this site for over ten years (finally decided to make an account a couple months ago) and I definitely agree that it used to be a lot worse, but there's still plenty of toxic people on here currently.

I try and keep a balanced opinion to pretty much everything but I must say that this is by far one of the most toxic communities I've encountered on my adventures throughout the internet. Obviously not the case with all users but some people here seem like they almost want everyone to fuck off unless its someone that they've invested a lot of time into, which won't have happened unless that person reciprocally invests time in them as well. It's just one big circlejerk of veiny penises, but all those penises are 3 inches and insecure, when realistically, when it comes to users, it's the motion on the ocean that counts.

Completely agree! My teenage self loved this album. Some real fuckin' bangers on here. Lyrics are pretty cringe but Adam Warren is undoubtedly a talented vocalist.

I remember Fractured Frames, Scattered Flesh being one of the heaviest songs I'd ever heard at the time, when I was blasting this album playing the Gears of War campaign. Good times. Also, if I remember correctly, songs like Samael the Destroyer had interesting atmospheres when I came to deathcore. This isn't the best band in the world, but I don't think they're as bad as so many people make out.

And the lyrics on this album are actually pretty good for a deathcore band

This and Ascendants are criminally underrated in deathcore. Vocals are top tier alone.

Ascendant is one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard tbh. Would never even come close to giving any of their others a listen lol.
