I'd actually rank them exactly like Masochist.

And yes, Beaufort is probably the essential HIL song.

Album ranking? Ok!

Poison = Hollywood > Heavy Fruit = few = It Hates You >>>> 90125

Really, the EP is the only thing below a 4 from them for me.

At least we're all in agreement that Hollywood is at least tied for their best

I dig their post hardcore stuff more, but I do quite enjoy the bluesy/psychedelic/hard rock thing they have been playing around with since then.

They just haven't had that, I guess, "defining" album with those styles yet for me, like with the first two.

It Hates You > I Am Hollywood > few. > Suck out the Poison > Heavy Fruit

I don't think they've really put out a great album, although It Hates You is two songs away from being that (Cult of She and Mean Shadows should bounce outta there).

Probably one of my favourite bands with no perfect albums

Mean Shadows is one of the best off of there

I don't really think they have a skippable song on any of their LPs.

Waior - I could do without "Cult of She," but "Mean Shadow" is irreplaceable.

The ending where he drops in with that drum fill back into the riff is perfect.

My biggest problem is that I do consider 'I Am Hollywood' an album with only good songs on it--straight fire the entire way, it's quite incredible. But because 'It Hates You' exists, I can't say that it is unequivocally my favorite by the band. 'It Hates You' is entirely too catchy, and so many of the moments from it get stuck in my head for days.

I guess it's not a popular opinion, but I think Suck out the Poison is fucking fantastic. I can listen to that album straight through just fine.

It is pretty nice. The transition into the chorus is cool and surprisingly smooth for the difference in sounds.

My favorites from Poison have always been Electronic Throat, Stampede, and the (((louds one at the end.

Y'all...it took me until JUST NOW to realize that "Call-Ins" wasn't one long 7:00+ track. I have never listened to this album on random, and never noticed until just now that the second half of the song was its own track ("Eastern Locusts"). Doesn't matter. I still call it one song, and it's definitely one of their bests.

As far as 'Suck Out The Poison', my favorite songs have changed a bit since it came out. "Attack of the Dungeon Witch" has moved up significantly since I always find myself singing the chorus and bridge ("Must you leave your broom at the side of my bed?"). It took a long while for me to enjoy "Serpent Sickness," but it has to have one of my all-time favorite HIL choruses ("There is someone alive living behind my eyes, and this time I feel it!"). "The Pot-Bellied Goddess" and the title track have always been among my favorites from this album, and they still are.

My favorite, though, is probably "Goldie Torn Locks." Just a straight catchy song from beginning to end, and everything I love about He Is Legend. They have at least one of these types of songs per album for me, just stupidly catchy, kind of up-beat with a sing-along chorus and probably some repeating lines somewhere in the middle. From '91025', there's "Either They Decorated For Christmas Early...." 'I Am Hollywood' has...well, too many to list, but "Eating a Book" might be the best example. 'It Hates You' also has quite a few, but the best example is "Future's Bright Man." 'Heavy Fruit'--"This Will Never Work." Few has "Beaufort." To me, these aren't quite the "China Whites" or "Stranger Dangers," but hearing these gets me excited to listen to each album.

Oh man, This Will Never Work is just about my favorite HiL song. Be Easy is also super great from Fruit.

I think I might need to bump my rating. This album has quietly become one of my favorite albums of the year.

I've sung its praises quite a bit in this thread, but "Beaufort" might be my favorite song of the year (so far, anyways...that new Glassjaw track is incredible, so we'll see). If nothing else, it has the best sing-a-long part of everything I've listened to:

"And aaaaall...the flaaaaames...

CONSUUUUUUUME MEEEEEEEE!

All the fiiiire in Hell couldn't hold me down,

This woooooooorld means nothing to me"
