semper grew on me a bit, preferred it to her debut, but I connect a lot more with the all pervading low key sad times atmosphere of this

‘semper femina was the dullest album i've heard all year’

while i've argued my problem with a lot of albums is homogeneity, and that they suffered from lack of variety, i also don't think lots of variety is always a good thing. like, this has a kind of uniform sound that i love. it draws me further into its narrative.

I definitely agree with that principle in general, in this case though I'm just saying that this is a much fuller album on the surface than the Laura Marling album in question is. I mean, quality aside, this has pretty much the most super generic somewhat poppy female folk sound imaginable.

generic? disagree hard. i think this is pretty refreshing for the genre - one plagued with dull and sometimes downright awful musicians like brad paisley and lucinda williams and fucking keith urban. that's the stuff i feel like i would be listening to on the back of some broke down piece of shit red pickup truck on a farm. i know that now aimee mann has more in common with folk rock and indie, but that country element is still there

Loving this more with each listen, masterful pop songwriting. Will slot comfortably in my top 20.

Gyro the fact that you put Lucinda Williams in the same group as fucking Brad Paisley and Keith Urban means you either have no idea what you are talking about or are a complete fucking idiot and either way you've completely lost any respect I had for your music taste. Not that you care lol.

Have a good day.

Exaggerating a bit but seriously that juxtaposition is so preposterous that I have to assume it either stems from ignorance or extremely poor taste.

I tried to listen to her Gravel Road album and it was the corniest diner music I've ever heard. No thanks.

Id be embarrassed to be caught listening to it, boney. It's stereotypical trash
