The closer rules and I Went to Sleep is good, but most of this sounds like throwaways

"I Can Hear Music", "Be With Me", "Time to Get Alone" are excellent, but the Smile-era tracks "Our Prayer" and "Cabinessence" unsurprisingly outclass everything else
Also the Manson track "Never Learn Not to Love" is a bit underrated I feel

to be fair ars, as I pointed out, this whole album consisted of a few new songs, a couple of Smile outtakes and other miscellaneous songs from years prior (since it's very obvious I Went to Sleep is a Friends outtake)

"All I Want to Do" is pretty bad

I will say, that Al's version of Cotton Fields is pretty bad
edit: lyrically yeah, but the story behind it and Mike's vocal is pretty solid

Time to Get Away was originally written for Three Dog Night (then known as Redwood IIRC)
In general, there's probably four actual original songs written for 20/20 rather than for other bands; covers; etc.
Though I'd say it sounds like a WH cut with better production
should add you should check the new Wild Honey remaster (that also comes with stuff from the Smiley Smile sessions, last time I read; also live shows from the WH tour and other outtakes) when it drops in June. It's the very first true stereo version of the album.

It's just a boring album overall except the closer anyway
I've heard it twice today and I'm already pretty much ready to move on

I have high hopes for Sunflower and Surf's Up though since they've have high ratings
But you know me anyway I like all of the weird moods and sounds of Smiley Snile the most anyway

fair enough
Dennis is probably the reason why this album worked if we ignored the Smile/Brian cuts

dude, if you don't get down to Cool, Cool Water I'll be infinitely saddened
though since both of those have their fair share of Smile material, I think you'll like those since they both have a more definitive identity whereas this was the work of a band that had no clue as to where to go next

should add the best non-Smile material on Surf's Up is the Dennis outtakes (Fourth of July, Wouldn't It Be Nice to Live Again) (even then, Feel Flows is close)
