Had this album not been sandwiched between the successful 'Powerslave' and experimental 'Seventh son of a seventh son', it would probably be appreciated more by fans of the metal genre as a whole, rather than just something widely hailed by fans of the band. That said, this is still pretty good, and 'Alexander the great' is an epic amongst epics.

Sea and Stanger are good but the rest is dull. Gave up on Maiden after this. All these years on and I prefer the Dianno albums; they capture a moment in time when Maiden were an exciting hungry band.

I actually think my favorite off this ATM is The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner - Bruce sure can sing on that one!

Great song indeed.

The title track, Wasted and Stranger are my favourites though.

Very good review, although am the only one who thinks that Heaven Can Wait is actually a strong song? Deja Vu's probably my least favourite.

Probably the most underrated Iron Maiden album, along with X Factor which has several great songs. Just looking at the track listing I'd say there isn't a single average song on this album. All are good, great or epic.

Learned the wasted years solo on guitar when I was 13 and I still haven't forgot it. Such a good album but it doesn't compare to Brave New World, Powerslave or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

Live after Death slays them all, but this is awesome, yeah. So are almost every Maiden album. But not the one's with Blaze.
