"one of the pet peeves I have with Sputnik, is the drive-by assholery from the peanut gallery, many of whom hardly ever put that much effort and put themselves out there to be criticized, though they have no problems about dishing it out. "

literally no one was being an asshole to you in this thread whatsoever

also there you go again with the stupid and baseless remarks

even if someone hasn't reviewed or god forbid they have reviewed and just didn't put as much effort into it as you do that doesn't make their criticisms invalid

stop playing the victim

@Kupa: Dude, I know how you feel about putting time and effort into things. My last Black Malachite EP "Rage" got completely destroyed critically, and is currently sitting at a 1.5 on Sputnik. I've received pages upon pages of critique. The best thing to do is to just learn what you can from the advice being given, and not let it get to you personally. Critique is the best way to become a stronger individual.

"critique."

is that what you're calling it?

"Is that what you're calling it?"

Yeah, most of the critique on my Rage EP was valid, non-trolling critique.

Black Malachite,

Well, yes, of course there is a difference. But the metaphor of the "literary chore" refers to the physical "chore," no? It's derived from it. So I think that's a distinction without a relevant difference. I don't think they're analogous in the way you say. Or at least, I didn't interpret "chore" from JeetJeet in the same way as you do. This is getting entirely too philosophical and just nondiscursive at this point.

And I appreciate your critical take on my (over)reaction -- depending on what view of it you. I really can take criticism; I come from a journalistic background. Unfair, unjust criticism grinds my gears, but that could be I'm immersed a bit in an academic background, and there's different rules and higher standards of what qualifies as appropriate discourse. And I have trouble turning that side of me off in less formal contexts.

Oh, to be fair I avoided that thread like the plague. Carry on!

Yeah really the argument in regards to chore is just about perception, I've never seen it to be a hyper negative comment, only that it's simply stating that something rambles for a bit too long. I'm glad you appreciate the critique though, the only thing I recommend is that even when facing what you consider to be "unfair" and "unjust" critique, you take it in stride and take what positive traits you can from it.

"Oh, to be fair I avoided that thread like the plague. Carry on!"

My albums are usually received far better than my EPs so I don't blame you for avoiding the Rage thread.

I mean not gonna lie I was baked beyond belief when I listened to this the first time, so that could be why I enjoyed it so much.

But it was also wonderful sober as well, I love the space themes this band brings to the table. The vocals and electronic work are sublime as well.

"literally no one was being an asshole to you in this thread whatsoever...also there you go again with the stupid and baseless remarks"

@Betray

I strongly disagree. Of course, there are people like that on here. The internet with threads breeds assholes. Sputnik, a haven for a bunch of critical, opinionated individuals, is hardly an exception. There's a lot sneering hypocrites here. And I don't consider you one of them, by the way.

Anyway, my ad hominem was not intended to rule out criticism of people who don't write reviews here wholesale. It was intended to be an indictment of assholes here for being assholes with no bearing on the truth/validity of their remarks. Their criticisms are judged on their own merits. I wasn't making an ad hominem argument. I was making an ad hominem moral judgment of character.

In my view, Jeet Jeet was rude and way off-base and that makes his statement rude. It's from the merit of their criticisms I judge people to be assholes. It's not from them being assholes that I judge the worth of their criticisms.

@Kupa: Trust me man, the best way to handle critique is to take it all in stride and learn what you can from it. I don't mind my EP getting ripped apart, if I ever experiment in that genre again in the future, I've got a huge basis of knowledge to go off of to make it better.
