I'm really split between a 3-3.5 halfway through it.

The weird stop-and-start transitions really bug me, but I've definitely heard lesser quality nu-metalish deathcoreish hardcoreish bands that are way more praised than these guys.

This album is just dull. I listen to it, and as soon as I'm done, I immediately forget how any of the songs go. Sad, they were heading in the right direction with the last album.

I would say its post-hardcore. So basically progressive hardcore yes.

The hero-worship is strong here, but it's done in a way that works.
Wasn't too hot for their previous record but this is a total step up.

I wouldn't say post-hardcore, per say. They go from beatdowny metalcore with industrial bullshit and then write grunge tracks to go with the aforementioned.
