Ragnar's alto voice is just spot on on this.

The introductory polyrhythmic drumming in "Full Throttle Tribe" is a direct loan from the respective drum pattern in Meshuggah's "Perpetual Black Second"

I only gave one spin to this, and I'm not hurry to repeat the experience.

RIP the good old PoS.

It's incredible how quickly this album devolves into straight cheese. No self-awareness whatsoever.

"In what way?"

They probably just can't relate to the emotional themes of the album and so deem it "cheesy". It's all up to interpretation.

"considering this guy almost died, I can't think of it as cheesy. what did you expect?"

They expected it to be about the stuff most metal bands sing about... demons, dragons and the devil. Ya know, stuff that really matters. Fuck actual real human emotions, that's cheesy.

Then there's the factor of capability to express and communicate said emotions with sincerity

I don't think that many bands express emotion with sincerity. Especially prog bands. But given the cheesyness in, say, goth and doom, coming from well respected bands, I don't see why prog is forbidden from expressing feelings.

I didn't know you had the ability to get inside someone's head and know exactly what they were thinking when they made an album and whether or not they were being sincere. Well done sir.
