Got a good batch man, Agnes Obel, Emma Ruth Rundle's "Some Heavy Ocean", Emily Jane White's "They Move in Shadows All Together", Julie Byrne's latest and Carrie & Lowell.

I still gotta hear that whole album I've only heard bits and pieces.

It's as good as this one, kind of the discovery of her formula.

Not lightyears of difference between them stylistically, Aventine is just a bit more hushed and understated. The production is more intimate and less 'shiny' than this one too. Less studio trickery ('Familiar' etc)

I try to buy from record stores when I can, both to support them and to avoid extortionate shipping costs
|

Discogs is just a portal, you are buying straight from record stores I believe.

You can yeah. If you pick the right sellers.
Where I live we only have one record store left. With them offering everything on both vinyl and cd it means the selection has halved too, so I can't find anything there anymore, except for new releases. A real pity, Discogs it is for me if I want anything older than a few years and not super mainstream.

This record is still spectacular. Might actually deserve a 5...

I think Aventine has a few songs that are better than these, but this album feels more coherent.
