Listened again (in the early morning!) and I'm thinking there's 4.5 potential here, maybe the best I've heard from these guys so far and probably the best use of autotune that I've ever heard. It adds an incredible sensuality to the atmosphere. This band is pretty much synonymous with gorgeous.

Despite what I thought about NIV before listening to the whole album, I love that song now.

Damn I'm really falling in love with this. A different song stands out each time which is the sign of a truly great album.

I think my three favourites are the opener, closer and 'Relatives' - but everything on it is near perfect

The opener and closer are clear standouts agreed, The Hustle in particular. When Wagner finally enters the mix with the unfiltered vocals - truly sublime. Amazing lyrics on that one too.

It's just so mesmerizing and there's an amazing amount of sonic detail, I can tell I'll be discovering new bits and pieces with this one for a while.
Right now this definitely beats Cass McCombs and probably Drive-By Truckers, for it to take AOTY it'll have to beat Radiohead and Sturgill Simpson, but I think this has a chance. I'm still only at ~6-7 listens so it's probably a bit early to say.

Also Doof I think this might be the first time I've been up late enough over here to catch you in the morning across the pond - oh dear, bedtime for Boney!

Doof's up pretty early too though
It's this or Cass for the top spot unless something comes out of nowhere. Third spot between Nick Cave, Radiohead, Stimming and Bowie

Great lineups Doof and zak! Bowie will probably crash my top 5 as well once I finally check it (soon!).

Seems like this album will grow on me if I can ever stop listening to Is A Woman.

Is a Woman is better than this but it's a closer call than I'd have predicted after my first two or three listens.
All I know is 50% of my listening this week has been these guys. I recommend the lambchop diet (groan)
