Ok, can we talk about how low key brilliant Thomas Wydler's drums are on this thing?

So yeah having finished my first listen now I only enjoyed this on a 3-3.5 level. (Though I had a major interruption in the middle so maybe that ruined it for me.)

Idk I mean it just sounded really overblown but also kinda boring.

But I've had albums start out as 3-3.5 and end up 5 in the past so I'm not ruling out that I'll do a 180 on this.

Overblown like melodramatic but in a quiet way. Idk maybe it's the voice and the almost spoken word delivery.

Again it's too early for me to cast final judgment of course.

I feel like that's not what melodrama means tbh

Not to be "that" guy but from Merriam-Webster I'm getting melodramatic (simple definition): "emotional in a way that is very extreme or exaggerated : extremely dramatic or emotional". That's pretty much exactly the sense in which I was using the word.

Even under the definition of melodrama as theatrical it still works too - it kind of seems like he's feigning the emotion (it's something in his voice, to my ears). Even if it is genuine emotion it didn't really *sound* that way to me.

And the instrumental tracks were nice atmospheric stuff but nothing struck me as "wow this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard".

I mean on paper I should love this so maybe I just didn't listen in the right mood/situation and I'll come to my senses later. As I said I had to take a break in the middle which probably broke up any tension or atmosphere being built up by the sequenceing so that probably didn't help.

its a grower no doubt.. on first listen nothing really stood out for me at all.. gave more listens in flac and the album really breathes through all the emotions.

'I'm loving this closer though - probably my favorite on first listen.'

I love the song, but feel the ending of it could have been better.

Idk dudes I'm not very lucid right now so I'm just gonna leave and 24 hours from now we'll be laughing back to the good ol' times when I thought this was only good.
