Billy was the man, he made such intriguing music. This
and SD have layers upon layers that require plenty of
jamming to be revealed.

Dat bass at 2:40 in "Suffer".
Album rules too much. Chamberlain's drumming is fantastic on this.

At 4:20 on Snail, Chamberlain proves that he's a badass drummer.
One can say that this is Chamberlain's album, while SD is Corgan's album.
The riffs on SD are too insane. They perfected their signature sound on there.

I don't know about Chamberlin though. Maybe it's the mark of how great he is that he never vies for the spotlight and never draws attention to himself, but I've never really heard anything from him that made me go, "cool!" Suggested listening anyone?

I'd go for this whole album, but maybe other users have other suggestions.

Start drumming and you'll realize his amazing skill, subtlety, musicality and ability to make a song his own. He's probably a better drummer than Billy is a guitarist or overall musician.

I get that he's subtle and musical, but so are Gavin Harrison and Sean Kinney and they still find ways to wow you when you listen to them without being too obvious about it.

Sean Kinney has never wowed me. ever. he's probably the weakest link in any of the big 4 except for the guy who played drums on Ten.

I think Billy's a great guitarist, but the beauty of early Pumpkins stuff is that they complimented each other.
Billy had some of the most innovative riffs of the day (to my knowledge anyway), and quite a few are pretty hard to play.
But yeah, Chamberlain was great, and he pretty much clicked perfectly with Corgan's riffs to make the music all the more awesome.
