Honestly it sounds paper thin to me, on almost all counts bar the vocals.
What happened to the massive tone from Of Breath and Bone?

Their really distinctive style is kinda bugging me by this point tho tbh. It's like all their mid-paced riffs aren the same do doo doo dododo do doo doo dododo simple playing, like for everyone song.

Cool jam. An Ember's Arc and The Smoke Of Many Fires are the best songs on the album.

A lot of the backing riffs are easy to glaze over at first but they're actually really complex and creative.
This is almost as good as Stone's Reach.

Definitely growing on me. May bump. The riff in the middle of The Smoke of Many Fires (4:45ish?) is fucking incredible.

I wasn't wildly impressed with the album but Roots to Sever just reached out and grabbed me. That piano in the beginning is vintage Be'lakor. HNNNGH

"What melodic death metal strives to be"
Serious words for a band that never released a good album to begin with. Let's see if it's true what the review says about Vessels.
