Rejoice, altertide, for I have you covered for my impressions on the second disc:
The build-up on Frankie M is very nicely paced and is by far the best part of the album up to now. Encouraging. The middle section isn't fantastic on its own, but it leads nicely into a strong last five minutes. Good to hear some creativity again. When Will I Return is in the same vein.
Rest of the album's a grab bag. The individual parts of The Glowing Man are good but did not seem to fit together, especially for the Bring the Sun reprise (it was better the first time around, too). Can't say that the shuffled beat of Finally, Peace has it's place on the album at all either.
The album is surprisingly straightforward and I do not think it'll be a grower. Sure feel like they could have made a much better single disc out of this.
Happy to provide my all-important opinion on this matter.

Funnily enough, I feel like the songs were pretty similar when I saw them in Feb. 2015, except for the title track. Frankie M was a really nice opener then and really set the tone for the full show.

Liking this quite a bit so far. It's like they took the ideas and sound of "Just a Little Boy" on TBK and fleshed it out across an album. A reductive perspective, but for me, that's a positive comment.

Found this to be one of their weaker albums overall, but still has some great moments, especially Finally Peace, the t/t, and Frankie M. Disc 2 seems much more fleshed out - Disc 1 gets boring a few times.

Wasn't this supposed to have 3 discs though?

If you just cut off the first 8 1/2 minutes of Frankie M you could've potentially had one of Swans catchiest and infectious songs. That's what it seemed like most of the album, moments of brilliance here and there but for the first time I felt the tracks really didn't need to be as long as they were. Usually I don't feel like that with Swans and let the band just do their thing.

^My feelings exactly. Some of the songs don't justify their length on here like they did with the last two albums.

it's 3 on vinyl

I get the issue with the length. I need to listen again but I get more of a meditative vibe from them than boring. Maybe that will change.

I usually find their longer songs immersive and hypnotic. But the first two songs on here for instance feel pretty sluggish and uneventful.

Not as good as The Seer or To Be Kind but still an incredible album. It's a little bit more straightforward which might be why I like it a little bit less. Gotta love Michael Gira's weirdness.
The vocals on Finally, Peace are amazing

kinda disappointed by this to be honest. it's still good but a lot of the album feels really sluggish and bland compared to the last two releases. songs feel undercooked and way too long for their own good which is something they avoided with TBK and The Seer despite the absurd runtimes.

t/t is the only above average song here imo

It's all good. I get some Laughing Stock vibes from this record.
