I'm with you there
the "foxes in the garden" pre-chorus is one of the best moments on this album, just needed a better chorus

Yeah even the weaker songs have something good about them.

I also really enjoyed Wake Up. The chorus has an awesome build up, and a riff that has been stuck in my head all day.
The only song I really dislike here is Black Honey. The extended metaphor is pretty cheesy and almost cringeworthy to be honest.

Yeah I really don't have an issue with Wake Up. The chorus is pretty standard, but that riff is pretty solid so whatever. The verses and bridge are great.
Black Honey is actually one of my favorite songs on the album; that chorus is fantastic. I dig the extended metaphor, too.

'now they're stinging my friends and family and i don't know why this is happening!!' has an inherent comedic value so i get a world-weary-chuckle out of it
it's good

I feel like theres nothing to this album
Like you can list the good parts on a post-it note and then complain about wake up for days

I can do the opposite, what's your point.

What is it about "Wake Up" that triggers everyone so badly, again? Like everyone is claiming it's pure cheese but it's one of my favorites, songs like wake up, doublespeak, yellowbelly, etc are my jam

Because on first listen it would fit in perfectly on a Three Days Grace album or something. The song has grown on me but it's just so "hard rawk, maaannn."

As someone who has a decidedly guilty pleasure of butt-rock I don't get that impression at all but I guess to each their own

I know I had just mentioned a U2 comparison for Stay With Me the other day, but I actually feel like Wake Up's chorus has a decisively late 80s/90s U2 vibe. Or at least I get more of that vibe than a radio rock one people keep comparing it to.
I do kinda feel the radio rock vibe for some other stuff here, but not that one.

This has no bad songs but does get dangerously close to generic radio rock at times, but most of it is fantastic.

bc it sounds like stuff thats been around for a decade or two now. radio alt rock or hard rock whatever is the most overwrought genre that has ever been.

I guess I just don't know what 3 days grace or five finger death punch ppl have been listening to if that opening riff or the verses sound anything like contemporary hard rock but w/e

to be fair in terms of the sound and the overall production there's nothing that's really original but the way its handled with the instrumentation, the lyrics (for the most part), and Dustin's vocals it's still a well made record.

that's pretty much where I'm at. I think the lyricism took a step back but I'm a sucker for dustin's vocals/teppei so
