correct!
|
| |
glazed doesnt have a real rhythm going so it feels awkward and lacks momentum
if he laid some drums under it it might be okay, although even then the horn sample is just sort of jarring

Why isn't every Sputniker currently listening to this?
Happy Birthday, Dilla.

If only Dilla was alive. He'd make a dopeass mixtape with Lex Luger and it'd be on Datpiff.

I'm sure Dilla would mushroom slap your dumb ass for that statement
|

lol in all actuality it actually would be a pretty cool collab now that I think of it. They're both auteur producers with styles on different sides of the map but it could work. Some machine-gun drums mixed with perfectly cut soul samples.

what the fuck did you just say
|

I was joking about how J Dilla was the start of producers sidechaining the fuck out of EVERYthing because he did that all the time. (see: Apollo Brown, TokiMONSTA, a lot of house producers)
and then I was like just playin, and noted that Stop was a great song on this album.

i think my fave j dilla prod.s might honestly be the stuff on fantastic vol. 1
