jesus christ, i just can't, is the shitty album cover a reminder that there are much more serious issues in the world than making album covers or what, just look at that fucking impact-ass looking font ugh

The drawing looks like it was supposed to just be the first draft but they ran out of time and used it.

So true...
But even though this cover sucks, it's a masterpiece compared to that Sia cover.

So that part of "River Anacostia" that goes "wade in the water, god's gonna trouble the water" is from an old slave song...hmmm that's really interesting.

That average is ridiculous.

This plays like a middle-road Jefferson Airplane album. Really underwhelming stuff.

PJ was a huge Beefheart fan and the album references him 3 times.
1. Both opening tracks for To Bring You My Love and Safe as Milk start with the lines "I was born in the desert."
2.The rhythm to "I think I'm a Mother" is basically a slowed down version of Safe as Milk's "Dropout Boogie" and the song even and uses similar lines about supporting and adapting "her"
3.The title "Meet ze Monsta" comes from a line from Beefheart's song "Tropical Hot Dog Night" (this is on Beefheart's Shiny Beast album though, not Safe as Milk.)
BONUS blues reference: The "Little fish big fish" part of "Down by the Water" is a reference to Led Belly's "Salty Dog Blues"
