after revisiting deftones this week i think they are one of those rare bands where i would rather listen to them by making a playlist of my favorite songs by them rather than listen to whole albums because i find the albums can be inconsistent i guess, a bit boring

but when they hit the mark its wonderful

i wish they didn't have jerry play over that mammoth riff at the end, that could have been a beware type moment

When I'm feeling Deftones, I usually just put their discography on shuffle unless I'm feeling a particular album.

Dude Phantom Bride is amazing wtf. It has the best atmosphere on the album.

Bumping this to a 4, seems like the album is starting to click for me now.

I'd say best atmosphere on the album has to go to Acid Hologram though.

Acid Hologram is probably the best song on here

Gore: Deftones finally showing their age. Can they release Eros now?

I'm not too sure about this after my 2nd listen. There isn't a single song that really sticks out as good to me. I wasn't too big on KNY either, but at least that had a couple of great songs and one of their top 5 (Rosemary) on it. Maybe it'll grow on me, but for now I feel it's pretty boring

The album art on Koi No Yokan is my favorite; the covers for this and Diamond Eyes good too. I guess the rest are cool, but seem pretty random.

For those who were initially let down by this or don't know what to think at first, I encourage more listens with an open mind. While there's some very heavy moments on here, the majority is more experimental, dreamy, and melodic. There's a lot going on and it's hard to grasp on first listens for most. If I'd compare it to any of their others, I'd pick Saturday Night Wrist.

Agreed with Talons, definitely a grower. This could become one of my favorites.

I'm not sure what to think of this after my first listen. There's definitely some standout tracks (Phantom Bride lives up to the hype for sure) but also a couple forgettable ones. I don't think I've ever had to say that about a Deftones record before.
