i have more of a soft spot for Ef. they have this sweetness to their sound. theres really something endearing about them ceremonies is really good i highly recommend it to anyone who likes this. its a bit less reliant on quiet-loud dynamics, but the songwriting is very good and there is plenty of variety as there are more songs. less epic than yndi so maybe leaning slightly more towards an indie sound... but really theyre very similar.

The piano on this album sounds like it was recorded four rooms away, I dig it a lot. I almost wish this album felt just a little bit less studio

the production on this is spectacular.

giving this a go now

my presumption is that youll at least like it more than the debut noctus. the musicianship is much improved. particularly the drums were pretty weak at points on the debut but thats not the case here.

yeah you're pretty much on point - the structuring, melodies and songwriting are vastly improved so i definitely enjoyed it more than the debut
i really cannot stand the vocals though, they are so monotonous and frankly far too apathetic-sounding, the album would have benefited in my eyes from ripping them out altogether
but alas, clearly this band aren't for me and if neither album can convince me i doubt i'll ever be swayed

| |
i think the melodies on the debut are exponentially stronger than this release, but this is really starting to grow on me quite a bit

i'm not seeing it. they seemed far too simplistic and predictable, i like how laid back the melodies here are.

Yall need to check out EF's Hello Scotland and tell me that it doesn't sound the same as this. And I don't mean that in a bad way.
|
| |
yeah it seems there arent many of us who have made the Ef comparison surprisingly
|
| |
hello scotland is an absolute classic of the genre too, just as an aside. im hard-pressed to say if i like any song on here as much as i like hello scotland.

This is a solid 4 at least, but I don't think I'll be able to listen to it again for sometime.
Way too many emotions right now for stuff like this.
