Hate that there's no stream or any way to hear this except for buying it. It's finally on Apple Music but most of the tracks aren't available

the only things off this album that is streaming are the singles. apparently they don't believe that streaming music doesn't bring in the profits

"dmp3131 - yeah, it's much more stale and, ironically, unimaginative."
I have a new favorite description of this album.
I'm also pretty surprised Rise isn't going to be streaming it on Youtube.

bland radio rock brings in the profits, just ask of mice and men (granted they were also never good)

I hope they do another Reimagine (with a different title) because I can see them making far more interesting versions of these songs.
A couple more thoughts on this album:
-Trenton's voice is clearly great, but he never chooses to expand his register on this album and if he does and I didn't notice, it's because of low lackluster it must have been. Vocally, it's stale because he can clearly do better.
-The choruses, on their own, aren't half bad, but because of the basic nature of each song (especially because of the vocals), they don't leave a lasting impression. They're catchy because I've found some of them stuck in my head, but I can't really say they are anything above average and I always find my self thinking of what more could have been done with them
And those were basically the positives that were weighed down by lack of being fleshed out. The blatant drawbacks are:
-Every song follows the same pattern and features the same type of sound. Little to no variation whatsoever. Nothing cool like "The Definition of Not Leaving", "A Fire On A Hill", "Oceandust", or "A Tale of Outer Suburbia" to change the tone or the pace. That's a problem.
-Forced heaviness. If the album, as a whole, isn't really going to do anything with this heaviness except for 5 or so seconds in nearly every bridge I remember or the random scream in the verse or chorus, then what's the point? I seriously wondered why they didn't go all out and just make a metalcore song to change something up, but go figure. They don't add anything but at the same time, they don't make it any more unbearable than it already is. These moments are just there for seemingly no reason other than "just cause" and I find that to be stupid.
-This album isn't poor because of the songs hitting your ear the wrong way. Instead, it's poor because it offers almost nothing standout to the table and sounds like a full leap backwards from their last album.
I Am is great. Division Symbols, New Romantics, and I guess Colorblind are pretty good. The rest is not worth any of your time.

I Am is my favorite song on the album, yeah. Which says a lot since it being the first single made me already skeptical of the album. :/

I've actually got a write up for this all ready to go, but it's basically just a more detailed version of everything GreyShadow said. Should I post it anyway?

just because it's aiming more towards the mainstream doesn't make it bad tbh

well it usually detracts from the creativity

My biggest issue is that the band used to put forth fairly technical music and somewhat complex lyricism. This feels like they're going the way of MMF. Not a wholly bad thing for people that want that, but definitely not what fans of Ground Dweller and Unimagine were probably wanting or expecting from a new release. Especially after Reimagine.
