I've talked about it before that I believe TDH is the superior album and underrated in comparison. In truth, this one is definitely catchier with its more verse-chorus formula, but I feel like TDH outclasses this in every other way.

I'm also admittedly biased since TDH was what introduced me to metal in the first place. I love both releases (I'd have this at a 3.7 if I could further adjust ratings tbh), but I definitely hold one high above the other.

Empty Inside is one of the best off of this. Phil had killer highs back in the day.

Hell, he might still have the chops, he just chooses not to tap into his strengths. His clean vox could carry a chorus well, but for some reason when he does a whole song his delivery becomes very nasal-y and obnoxious.

For me it's all about the 1-2 punch of Become the Catalyst and The Air That I Breathe.

His voice (clean) is pretty weak. Listen to any live recording and it's kinda sad.

Haven't listened to a live recording in a looooooong time from these guys. Lost faith in their musical output a while ago.

Yeah the vocals on this are some of the best in modern metalcore. I doubt he could sound this good live. They do sound quite polished on the record.

Saw them tour on this album opening for BFMV who was touring for the Poison. Completely glad I got to see them on that tour as nothing after from either band was ever as good.

BfMV was never good though

also Phil has finally achieved his dream of being in the kind of band he wants ATR to be, he's going to be the vocalist of Five Finger Death Punch for the remainder of their current tour

if I had to speculate I'd say that maybe Oli had more creative control during this era whereas nowadays it's pretty much all Phil
