Temp part of the issue is even more granular than the pop vs quality discussion which is what constitutes "good" pop. Is it successful pop or pop you personally think is of a requisite quality?

Pop is a genre just like Hip-hop, so, yes there is a difference between the most popular pop artist and the best pop artist

I'm not saying there's no difference but we should at least be comparing apples to apples here.

I heard James Hetfield doesn't like Drake so I don't either

Drake is pretty meh in my book. I don't think I've ever really listened to him by choice.

pop is just music meant to have overlapping appeal and can be found in most any genre

Haha I started listening to Drake in a similar fashion, first year of Uni, right about when Take Care was coming out and I was super high on it back then. I've cooled hard on him since then though

Yeah I was in school then too, I remember. Would have preferred to hear that stuff at parties but all I got in 2011/12 was Avicii Levels which makes me sick to my stomach to think about now

My biggest jams then were Section 80 and LiveLoveASAP

LiveLove is a hip hop classic tbh, Brand New Guy is one of my favorite hip hop songs of all time

Never was all that into Asap but yeah Take Care and .80 were banging around my dorm room at all hours of the day back then.
