I only saw the change in album covers and band photographs with Incubus - the covers started very tongue in cheek and the band looked typical slightly crusty beach variety pot heads at the beginning...then the band smartened up like they'd discovered cleaning their teeth regularly and getting nice haircuts and manicures and the sleeves turned into Quicksilver surf dude posters.
I can sort of project how that change would manifest in the music - and I don't think I'd like it

You are a bro and a half doof dude

Can someone help me find a free download of this? I've heard the link Zak posted and loved it, obviously.

I dunno dude. My hand is wavering over the option of buying a physical copy for 50 quid.
It's definitely worth it.

CD, Zak?

Yep. It's been deleted so people take the piss with the asking price.
|

Yeah 50 is steep but I'd consider it. Really would like a digital copy if nothing else, is it available somewhere?

:D you'd consider it! So you think this is amazing as well dude?
When all else fails i-tunes. In fairness they've sorted the streaming service nonsense out and it ain't half bad.

Yeah I'm not ready to rate yet but I do think this is quite special.

How many votes would this album need to get on the 1998 Chart?
Haven't seen anything below 20 votes on the list. Would love to see this above the top rated of the year, 'the shape of punk to come', aka the most sput album ever lol

Yeah it'll probabaly need 20.
Having had a brief scan at '98 the ones that are classics/amazing albums.
Mezzanine
Moon Safari
Deserters Songs
Jurassic 5
American Water
Aeroplane over the Sea
MHTRtC
None of 'em come close.

The closest for me is Deserter's Songs but this pips it to top spot
Electro-shock Blues would be the next closest after that

Oh yeah and Electro Shock.
I wonder if the criticism I level at the likes of The Sound of Punk to Come is biting me on the arse. Namely people are so desperate to find something that is not available in the current scene they attach themselves to shite from the past.
Having considered it for all of .2 of a sec I re-listened to this and am telling myself not to be a tit.

Nah, I would have loved this back in '98, it would have equally stood out then.
Would have put these tunes straight on the mixtape between Sparklehorse and Elliott Smith

Definitely. It's hit harder now and there's more of a connection there but if I'd have listened to it in '98 as I was I'd have loved it.

I need to give it a full listen. If it's better than this I will walk to the Chinese as shown in this album artwork and get a full on feast, pay for a plane ticket to get you over here lark dude and will also buy a few crates in so we can sit around with the doof and discuss this classic before hard sun kicks in and we all cry and man hug one another.
