"The production on this stops it from being anything special. I'll wait a year or two and see where they're at then. Interesting ideas but they definitely need some funding and time to refine their work."
Pretty much exactly how I feel.

I'd like some better lyrics since it's one of the albums center pieces but everything else on here is great so it's w/e.

It's really not a matter of what I want, I'm just not into the production (whether its intentional or not). Stuff sounding like it was recorded by a 16 year old in his parents' basement for $150 generally doesn't fly with me. They can do whatever they like, I'm just saying it stops it from being anything special for me, personally. I feel it degrades the work, and makes it sound immature and unrefined. I can get why others may feel its good/fine/awesome tho. I'm into the general idea of what they're going for, and I'm sure it'd be awesome to hear live. The recording just doesn't do it justice in any way.

well the genre relies a lot on relentless aggression and a to a certain point the rougher production makes it sound even more violent, which is mostly a good thing
|
| |
I'm all in for rougher production, done correctly, and agree with you completely when you say the genre relies on it "to a certain point" to make it sound more violent.
Bands like Killing the Dream, The Secret, and Loma Prieta have pulled it off quite nicely in the past.
This is low grade, and my ears just aren't into it. It doesn't sound more violent or brutal (in a good way) to me, it sounds like it needs work.

What I said is there for you to read and re-read as needed, ashen. I'm not gonna fuckin repeat myself. Your opinion is that the production is one of the better elements of the album. I'm respectfully disagreeing. My reasons stated are above.

the production on this isn't all that inaccessible. but your idea of "rough production" is the secret and loma prieta, so yes, you are not adjusted to anything abrasive. that doesn't mean the production in this needs work, or needs to be cleaned up, it just means you listen to twinkly music
|
| |
If twinkly music sounds like it took more than $150 to record, then yea, guilty as charged man.
