I'm still not sure that people really understand what "progressive rock" really means. The reviewer
notes the rap section being panned, but then goes on to pan it themselves! I must admit when I first
heard it, I was surprised, but as I listened to hip hop as a child, it wasn't totally shocking. Roll
The Bones was pretty much the first Rush album I got into, even though 2112 was the first I ever
bought back when I was in high school. To be a "progressive rock" musician is to embrace all stylistic
influences, be willing to experiment regardless of fanfare, record sales, the sound of the prior
release, or any other superficial concerns. Rush make whatever the f*** kind of record they want to
make, and it's for that reason that we are all here commenting about it! They are some of the most
soulful, carefree, talented, and adventurous, brave musicians in modern history. In any case, overall
a good review, I just wanted to add my piece about the rap section in the title track.
