I really dug this when it came out. I also really dug Wages of Sin when it was released. I was impressed by a woman doing metal vocals like that, at the time I hadn't heard anything like that in my life and it was a bit of a novelty. The production was excellent, the songs had cool riffs, but over time it became so bland to me. I don't even know if I would enjoy it at all if I listened to it now. This on the other hand is still a massive banger. So many killer riffs m/

alf svensson was one of the most interesting songwriters to ever play any metal, shame he's long since moved on to other things

by contrast i dont really like much of amotts work after necroticism

I was just curious. That's all. So just early stuff, which isnt unusual for seasoned listeners. Hope you're into The Chasm, if you've heard of them.

well what can i say i am a weird bastard and the longer ive been at it the harder it is to impress me. usually that is done through novel ideas rather than through iteration and streamlining

You're not weird. A lot of metalheads hit melodeath first as a gateway, go to death and/or black metal after it, and then proceed to think most melodeath is shit. It's the truth for a lot of listeners.

So there's nothing post-2000 or 2010s you like at all?
