her vocals. ah.

nyquil: the album
|
| |
but the thing is it's a pretty energetic and vibrant album bar i'm your doll so if ur trying to say it's sleep inducing then u need a better criticism/metaphor
|
| |
im saying it's boring, not that it isn't energetic or vibrant
|
| |
first track almost had me convinced/worried this wouldn't be the monotonous trainwreck of incoherent and painfully forced artistry that her LP was but that fleeting notion faded by the second track hard.

i rly liked lp1 ._.
|

i moderately enjoyed it at first due to its undeniable sense of originality - there really isnt anything quite like it
but familiarity was its undoing. every song is virtually indistinguishable from the last in that every single song features Twigs signature dog-whistle of a croon (ultimately a headache-inducing ordeal as it relentlessly drains the soul from your shrivelling body as the clock ticks near an hour) and pandering instrumentals that swell and subside so gratuitously they could really only appeal to the exact audience the album aims to attract - fans of mainstream pop that don't have the ear for the fact that FKA Twigs is merely weird for the sake of being weird in a strained attempt to achieve artfullness that ultimately falls flat on its face in the dead-weight of dreadful dynamism and the D-grade adhesive Arca, Emile Haynie, Devonté Hynes, Paul Epworth and Clams Casino fail to bindthe lackluster throwaway of an album together with.

ahh ok, then i probably fall squarely within that specific audience. it definitely feels immaculately composed and calculated possibly to the point of being strained and ultimately sterile.

nice :]

lp1 isn't really something i can sit down and listen to in full. i love her formula but it's best in small doses which is why i dig this so much tbh.

FKA Twigs is merely weird for the sake of being weird
Yeah, this is actually spot on.
I haven't listened to this in a while, but I do remember at some points this being a chore to listen to, and its needless for what she does.
|
| |
A chore to listen to indeed, which is not to day that she and her producers don't have some good ideas (on here tracks 1 and 3 particularly) but it's just executed so poorly
|
| |
idk i thought this was pretty damn weak
|
| |
whoops, edited my previous comment plane, I meant to type tracks 1 and 3. In Time was my fav.
