"Both albums have their benefits and drawbacks,"

Agreed. Neither one is perfect, but they are both great, imo.

PC was such a big step back. I really wanted to like it but it's like they just decided to forget the adventurous instrumentation and interesting compositional ideas shown on here and make a really safe, uninteresting version of their new sound.

Even Axenrot's drumming's not as good as it is on here, although it's still good enough to be the main reason I'd listen to PC again.

Loved the backlash from old fans for this when it first came out. This felt like a nice change of pace. PC just sounds like it's trying to be a celebration of sounds and bands he likes, rather than a Opeth rec.

Plus it's rather safe and uneventful looking back at this. Although quite a few of the 'old fans' also say this is a Camel/KC/70s tribute album.

Why thank you. Don't get me wrong Hawks I like PC too, but it just felt like a homage to the 70's sound. Think it woukld have worked better as a solo album or something.

PC is great but I'd much rather listen to this, far more emotional and the drumming is just so compelling, hypnotic almost.

This is less cheesy as well, and feels even more adventurous.

Hell yes Jac, Watershed is my favorite Opeth albium behind Still Life.

This grew off me after a while but the tracks I love are still awesome. I think PC is a bit better than this overall.

^^^I think he means here. If you look at the averages, Watershed has one of the lowest of all their albums but in our opinions it's one of their best.

Edit: Well, one of the lowest averages of their metal albums -_-
