is it twinkly and with terrible vocals

It doesn't have an excessive use of high pitched vocals like old school progressive metal. The vocalist is very dynamic and comes up with very intelligent vocal melodies and great harmonies.

| |
not hating that single The Price
the chorus vocals are fucking terrible but otherwise they are okay and the music itself isn't like overly wanky bullshit and its pretty tasteful.
|
| |
but yeah pretty much everything about that chorus is horrendous
its like 2000's radio alternative seether creed breaking benjamin

Knew there's be something you didn't like about it :-). Obviously that's the single so you wouldn't expect it to be the most diverse song. But the good thing is the band isn't copying band like Dream Theater, nor is it doing the djent thing. It's genuinely different from most modern prog metal
I've shared the link for another song "Rewind" on the front page. That's a bit different than the Price. You might like that a bit more

i think i already downloaded it cuz someone wanted to hear my thoughts on it so i will listen to it anyway but i have a feeling I'm gonna end up skipping through a lot of it and then giving it a 2/5 and never thinking about it ever again

Well if you're planning on listening to it once then you'll probably give it a 2. It's definitely a grower and requires a few listens to digest. But yeah I don't think you'll enjoy it too much.

listening, not digging it so far tbh. production isn't really letting much of the detail shine through, the vocals are obnoxious and the songwriting just seems too straight forward for what i look for in proggy stuff. prog isn't really my thing, though.

Damn. I was going to ask if you tried Coal but it seems you didn't enjoy that one much either. Chances are you might like Tall Poppy Syndrome more than this and Coal though like Omair.

This album isn't as crazy as Bilateral, but it's a more song oriented and reserved release.

Review was good. Album is good, just not great. It's definitely a grower as others have already said.

its not gonna grow if i don't like it and i usually don't plan on doing any more 'digesting' on albums i dislike..
but we'll see.

Oh man if I approached music like that I would've missed out on soooo many albums I now have as a 4.5 and 5.
Give it time Spag I wasn't a huge fan at first either

thats stupid. u can defend the album but don't defend it by saying things like "dude bro guy man if u just listen to it 50 times all like it"
there is a difference between listening to something and feeling unsure about it or liking it but not loving it and then going on to listen more and have it grow (which happens all the time) and listening to something and hating it and deciding not to listen to it again
i dunno about u guys but I'm personally intuitive enough to know off one listen that if i think something sucks dick that its not going to grow on me and that its a waste of my time to try.

things don't require several listens, they require time if they're going to grow at all. it's true i've hated some things on first listen and 6 months later went back to it and found a lot more in it but if i had listened to it repeatedly before the outcome wouldn't have been any different
listening to something back to back 5 times in a row won't make you like it any more if your initial response was poor to begin with
|
| |
listening multiple times or listening and then listening a fucking year later I'm not gonna fucking like an album i think is shitty any better don't be stupid

That's the way you are, doesn't mean everyone's like that. There are albums I've disliked initially, but grown to love after multiple listens.
@noctus: that's not always the case. You might end up discovering elements in the music that you missed after the first listen. If you didn't like the vibe AT ALL, then immediately listening again probably won't help

I like it. Definitely need to re-listen to this though.
I might finish that new Midnight Odyssey album first though because that first disc was fucking gorgeous.
