Nobody does it like Pyrrhon imo. Ulcerate feeel too mechanical and portal are going for something that I’m not sure is comparable

I'm enjoying this more than the new Ulcerate. Perhaps I'm just slightly tired of their schtick by this point. Like it's good, it's what they do, but this is actually pretty organic sounding in comparison (probably the 'mechanical thing' you mentioned idk) tbc

Interesting development. I remember checking back in with this last time I commented and decided it deserved anther shot

yeah, Portal aren't really comparable, just mentioned them as another band in the v general realm that I checked back in with and everything felt clearer (even if the results didn't really move me in the same way, prefer this etc.)

This is probably a 4, just needs another once thru

Tbf there is a difference between an ascendant band pushing forward with their own new identity and what that band then creates once they've established that identity, it'd probably be more fair to compare new Ulcerate to Abcess Time while this is closer to Pyrrhon's Everything is Fire/Destroyers, but that's pedantic of me I know

yeah true, I get that. It makes sense. I did actually defend Ulcerate on the basis of developing upon a formula they themselves set the blueprint for. Bands aren't gonna completely reinvent themselves every time

...anyway, this was never really a fair comparison on any real level other than what I'm currently listening to / feeling vs what I'm not, a rambling musing of sorts. And this seems like a nice safe quiet place away from the nonsense

Personally what I love about Pyrrrhon is they're a damn hard band to compare to anyone, so I usually just compare them to some other deeply disimilar dissodeath band too hahaha, so yeah excuse me for being so nitpicky

And damn do I relate to that. I've been trying to write more reviews for electronic music and since I'm so new to the genre I feel like I'm back to writing about metal for the first time ever and would be like "it kinda has some metallica in it"

I mean my original base for (not-really-a-)comparison was how I divide up my listening time and little more. Just said I can’t do too many (chaotic) “disso” bands at once. So I was simply ‘choosing’ my current tipple

The site could do with some more electronic reviews for sure. Hope you encounter some inspiration! I’m so inefficient / lazy at writing, it’s off-putting. Pretty sure I don’t actually enjoy doing it (hence my issues) but man would it be handy to just churn some out like it was nothing. Finishing is satisfying, the process isn’t

@Mort which is exactly why I'm trying to branch out my tastes, I wanna be a user who contributes something beyond the constant deluge of metal/core, be the change you wanna be on your shitter forum yo

@demon yeah writing is pretty much the thing I'm best at, I just prefer waiting on the itch to review instead of forcing it. The actual process is hella enjoyable for me too

Most interesting dissonant death I've checked in ages.

Concur with the above regarding the lack of electronic coverage. Likewise with you Fowl, I'm too new to it all to confidently write about it. I have cobbled together only one electronic review despite wanting to cover lots.

Haven't jammed the debut in a minute, fuuuuck forgot it rules. So much more straightforward than even this, but some of the riffs are massive

Yeah I'm definitely digging this now

Probably 6th or 7th time I've jammed this band and I'm only just now coming around to it. Besides kicking ass in a lot of parts it's pretty interesting all the way thru
