Great review of a great album. i also really like Severed handed, unemployable, all the begining of the album, and almost all of it

Good album.
Much the quite opposite album to No Code. No Code was very uneven but with some really great songs. This album is strong in average and in most of the songs. But it lacks some really great tunes.
The middle of the album sounds a lot like PJ have listen a lot to Pink Floyd on their albums Atom Heart Mother/Obscured by Clouds/Meddle. I mean the non-epic songs from these albums. Of cause Waters is no Vedder and McCready do not play like Gilmour. But still there are a lot of early 70s PF in it.

Pretty poor for PJ, IMO.
This album has some great songs, but this is by far their worst album. Big Wave and Comatose are two of the most generic pj songs in the catalog. Oh well Backspacer is somewhat better, but even that is lacking. If I was to rank all the albums in order, it would look like this:
1. Riot Act
2. Binaural
3. No Code
4. Vitalogy
5. Ten
6. VS
7. Yield
8. Backspacer
9. Pearl Jam

I just bought this. Listening to Severed Hand as I type. Will decide on a rating later. I'm liking it so far.

Riot act is awful (their worst imo), we really don't have the same opinion...

Good album, though a little boring at times.

Good album, definitely least favorite of the band though (one of my all time favorites). It lacks the experimentalism of the previous records and the energy of Backspacer. Still a solid album though, not a bad song really, just lacking the extra something
