such a classic, though shoso and kalk are the more acclaimed of the initial 3 records, i think this one really represents what made sheenas early work so great. At the core shes just an amazing songwriter. I appreciate the production on this to her new overly glossy orchestral jazz pop thing she has going on these days

Yeah, I definitely prefer this era too. There's much more of a DIY, punk-ish aesthetic, despite its poppier moments. Plus, the absolutely cathartic choruses

I think the word for her new stuff would be derivative, while muzai-kalk feel very much like an eager artist trying to break new ground. Love me some tokyo jihen, but she was never quite the same after that became a thing (LOVE heizei and sanmon tho, dont get me wrong). I was listening to kalk the other day and I couldnt help but think, damn some of these songs are actually insane and its crazy that a pop artist at her level of fame was able to release something like this. Was a swansong for her greatest era for sure.
Anyways Sid to Hakuchuumu and onaji yoru are my beloveds

I'm so happy after 11 years I finally own her first four albums in vinyl.
This is still great to this day.

Tadashii Machi is a great opener, love the vibe on this in general tbh.
