Really dude? I think that the solo is great. The slight dissonance is really what makes them so unique for me.

This album is truly all about the mood it sets, the atmosphere it creates and the picture it paints. It's not about technical proficiency at all, or showing off with fancy dramatic solos.

I agree completely. I don't listen to it because I want to be impressed by astounding technical skill. I listen to it because I want to hear immersive, atmospheric music with top-notch songwriting that will cause you to smile as you're hearing the absolute beauty that is Agalloch.

I think it was May of last year when I first heard this and fell in love with Agalloch. Granted, what made it click for me was playing She Painted Fire while driving to school in the rain

I mean Pyre has just come on and that's better than anything off here.

dead winter days was actually the one i was talkin bout

obviously this record/band isnt about technical skill and of course solos dont have to be super tech to be good. it just doesnt sound good. the out-of-key notes sound awkward and the composition is super amateurish

opinions and stuff i guess

Really? The solo that starts a little after the 5 minute mark sounds fine to me.
