Checked out the first two tracks and I enjoyed them, albeit not particularly. I'm still on the fence with symphonic BG.

It's nothing particularly groundbreaking but it's an enjoyable album. It also feels like the production is a little flat, as if it's not as "epic" as it wants to be.

First I'll settle down with SFB (nostalgia will probably make it a crazy high rating), then I'll check this one out in its entirety.

Twilight of the Gods is a killer tune.

Obviously this won't rip as hard as Somewhere Far Beyond but hey. Personally don't mind orchestra here and there if it's not too overbearing. Although that can make repeated listens harder.

Outside of a frankly underwhelming beginning (especially compared to Sacred Worlds) and a disappointing ending, this is a solid release. The Holy Grail and The Throne are by far the best.

The orchestra and the music in general just seems to fall apart on the first and final tracks. This coming from someone who doesn't mind orchestra involvement.

"Pretentious" is a silly word to use in this context. Having a song that is grand, with many instruments and a technical structure, has nothing to do with "characterized by the assumption of importance".

The entire album is worthy of a 4 except the beginning and end tracks just completely fall flat and drag it down. Completely outclassed by Sacred Worlds and Wheel of Time.

Best tracks definitely The Throne and Holy Grail. These guys still got it.

This album is consistently good but doesn't have any big standouts or epic moments like ATITM and ATEOT had. The only thing that comes close to that is Twilight of the Gods, which I predict will be a concert staple for years to come. But it is more consistent than the last 2 albums, so that kind of makes up for it.
