But the way i see it: this is the antithesis of THA's Midheaven. in ty's review he "said midheaven was a shit attempt at combining alt rock and tech metal because of an arrogant tone-deaf douche of a frontman. but spencer isnt tone-deaf, in fact he has a serious gift in being able to come up with really catchy melodies. i highly suggest you listen to midheaven... i know its crazy stay with me. youll hear many similarities in the writing style, vocal approach, cheesy choruses etc. and then after you finish midheaven (or as far as you can get into it), listen to periphery. this album in fact. then maybe then you, and all the others that dont like spencer's vox, can empathize with those of us that do :]"
I get what you mean and I heard Midheaven and it blows but instrumentally this is definitely better. I even stated this band instrumentally isn't that bad, aside from the second album being boring. It's like you said, Spencer isn't going to change someones opinion if you didn't like him before but I get what melodies he goes for. I'm not blind to that but I just wish his vox were stronger because they sound really restrained and whiny. Not throughout every song/album but their are plenty of those moments. I enjoy the first album instrumentally which is why I was glad they put out an instrumental release.

MK Ultra is definitely my favorite part of the album...its all so fuckin raw, and the cleans in the middle actually sound really good....other than that, i think Spencer brings the band down sometimes, but sometimes he sounds really fuckin good...like if he just didn't have such cheesy openings to the songs, it would be so much better...its like over enunciated, and real nasally in most of the openings with similar vocal patterns....but he always shines later in the song, especially when he screams...thats my only gripe, otherwise this album is really cool

Mongi is right, the vocals are absolutely terrible.

Their first 2 albums were unlistenable to me, but this is really good. i actually like Spencers vocals here. Omega is decent too, but some parts are boring as fuck.

MK Ultra is probably the worst song they've ever done.

dude mk ultra is sweet
id say the worst full song they've done is a toss up between Froggin Bullfish, Heavy Heart, and The Gods Must Be Crazy

"MK Ultra is probably the worst song they've ever done."
Lol. One of those kids that gets mad when someone thinks differently than them...I don't think "toondude" understands the qualities that makes that song great

Or maybe he's just expressing his opinion and is not meaning to provoke a responce at all, and there's no set criteria which makes a song great.
