No one cares. This is a Jester Race review.
Musically and vocally Lunar Strain is easily their worst.
No actually, musically and vocally Lunar Strain beats most other In Flames releases.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. They've never struck me as having any particular lyrical ingenuity.

This album gets the hype because it is that good. These songs sound even better live.

Every live performance of In Flames I've watched has been unfortunately bad, mainly due to Friden's crappy vocals.

Friden's vocals are like the best on here though. More fucking growling. Less 'HAIAIAIAIA I AM TRYING TO SOUND METALCORE'

So you can honestly listen to Everlost Pt. 1 and 2 and then listen to Moonshield, Artifacts of the Black Rain, Dead Eternity, and December Flower and tell me that Everlost is higher quality? The songwriting on Lunar Strain is incredibly boring a lot of the time imo. But it is your opinion so it's cool I guess.
You guys are free to say what you don't like about the album, but it is kind of annoying when every comment is, "OMG ANDERS VOCALS ARE SUCKTASTIC AHHHH!" At least 4 pages worth of the comments here say that. We get it. They suck. I think it's becoming another sputnik bandwagon. This Message Edited On 04.12.08

I'm going to have to agree with that.

Yeah, I love his vocals as well. I think this album may be his best vocal performance.

I actually think Whoracle is his best vocal performance. The way he does Jotun, The Hive, and Jester Script Transfigured beats anything off of this imo.

Dayum, I like this album much more than I thought I would.

Yeah it's better than Whoracle because Whoracle is 50% Killer 50% Filler.

It's a shame that they don't play their Earlier songs live very often, most of my favorite songs are off the first 4 or 5 In Flames albums. But after Clayman they decided to only make music they could fully replicate in a Live setting, so goodbye triple tracked guitar harmonies and goodbye instrumental pieces and goodbye to most of the things that made admire this band. I've seen em live around 3 times and they are amazing, but it just feels like they shouldn't go for the bare minimum in order to please the audience

most people will hear them from what they put out on record too, as opposed to live, but either way, i'm not so sure that that is the main reason they've gone in the direction they have

Yes I know, I meant at an actual concert. It sounded awesome on the dvd though, they played it really fast.

I wish In Flames would put out just one new album that's as good as this. But that'll probably never happen. =(
