interstellar sat right on the line where it was good enough that i enjoyed watching it a good deal but there is no way i'll ever remember it or think about it again in like a years time

This is really impressive. All sorts of stylistic shifts and layered rhythms...very cool. Will rate once I get a feeling for it.

Interstellar had plenty of great moments but it didn't come in chunks, just in brief glimpses here and there throughout the entire film. I left the theater disappointed and wanting never to see it again and the more I thought about the film, the more I hated it

It was incredibly well directed and acted though and the plot holes are arguably the same as any plot hole which comes with the theoretical idea of time travel rather than oversights by Nolan

My main complaints don't even come from the idea of time traveling but the absolute stupidity of the screenplay that just takes giant leaps of logic and asks that the audience accepts them. Such as a couple of lines of dirt somehow being binary which are actually map coordinates that lead to the super secret high tech NASA base that no one knows exists but happens to be within driving distance of the main characters home and the moment they see him, they deem him the perfect pilot for the mission that is leaving tomorrow. Shit like that happened all over the film and it was ridiculously stupid.

1) The dirt by itself wasn't the binary code it was just the continuation of the code he made by knocking some books off the shelves

2) the entire point was that he knew where it was because he'd already been there and led himself there to ensure that timeline would be maintained - like I said earlier, it's a closed time loop, classic time travel paradox

3) they knew him before as is established in the dialogue, he didn't just wander in and get picked for the mission based on his appearance, him and Michael Caine had worked together before which is how they knew he had the skills for the job

-The books he knocked off the shelf were the messages to his daughter. He made the binary coordinates swiping his hands through the dust blowing in and the film shows him staring at the dirt for what I can only assume is a few days.
-Obviously it's a paradox but it's drives me fucking nuts that this super secret base no one is allowed to know about is capable of being found within a few hours.
-I am aware that they knew him but he *did* just wander in and they just decide he is perfect. Let's ignore the fact that he blatantly hasn't flown shit in years as the story portrays and has gone through none of the training (because he has to leave the very next day) but if he was sooooo perfect, why did they not try contacting him before? He is portrayed as a man that feels trapped and wishes to explore. Chances are, his professor would have known this.
